Dhurat study which left even significantly-balding patients moderately diffusing at worst
I don't deny the dhurat study as far as regrowth goes is impressive I just hope Follica is better then the study...

Whilst this may help people who do not responsd well to minoxidil, this is n't the cure people are looking for unless you think this is a cure:

Obviously this is a HUGE if, and apologies if this is a stupid question but my scientific knowledge is limited, but if minoxidil is the primary topical ingredient for follica's treatment and the wounding technique is what's most important, then would it be possible if brotzu's lotion is ever released and does indeed produce superior regrowth results to that of minix that we could use that as the at home topical rather than the minoxidil?

Thanks for the news @Noisette !

Peoples, be relax....Maybe minoxidil will a part of the topical...but don't forget that the goal of a patent is to protect and to claim a lot of informations and FALSE informations in order to hide the "real" process.

Maybe minoxidil will be part of the topical but i don't think only minoxidil is THE topical able to fake the body and invoke it to rebuilds follicle instead of skin after the skin disruption.

Follica is working on this process since a lot of years...do you really think it's only wounding/dermabrasion with minoxidil ? Seriously ?

All the evidence we've had so far points to the combination of dermaneedling and minoxidil.

Does anybody know why I always feel like sh*t about 5 hours after applying minoxidil even at low dose? I mean I seriously feel down and depressed and face looks really tired after I use it. Is it affecting my BP or something? I've been so excited about a new treatment coming out sometime in the near future but this minoxidil talk really deflates my optimism.

Yes I seriously I think it is all it is. The compounds mentioned in the patent are all basically known, you cant patent something without mentioning what it is.

From follica:

http://puretechhealth.com/images/investors/Puretech_Pi_e-Prospectus_Final_T08_CNB-v2.pdf

Follica is a clinical stage company seeking to develop a treatment for hair loss which utilises its regenerative biology technology. This technology employs a technique called targeted cutaneous perturbation (or TCP) to stimulate the growth of new follicles and hair, followed by treatment with drugs and chemicals to develop those hair follicles and enhance the effect on new hair

Dig a bit deeper... minoxidil + a host of other potential agents...

[0065]

In particular aspects, the hair growth-promoting agent used in accordance with this aspect enhances conversion of vellus hair to nonvellus hair. In one such aspect, the hair growth-promoting agent enhances conversion of vellus hair to terminal hair. Exemplary hair growth-promoting agents that promote conversion of vellus to nonvellus or terminal hair that may be used in accordance with this aspect are prostaglandin F2α analogs (in one aspect, latanoprost), prostamides (in one aspect, e.g., bimatoprost), minoxidil, etc. In one embodiment, minoxidil is administered in combination with a prostaglandin F2α analog. In one embodiment, minoxidil is administered in combination with a prostamide. In one embodiment, minoxidil is administered in combination with a 5α-reductase inhibitor. In one such embodiment, minoxidil is administered in combination with finasteride. Methods and pharmaceutical compositions comprising "hair growth-promoting agents" for use in accordance with this aspect are described in Section 5.3 infra.

Has anyone noticed any mention of FGF-9 anywhere in their commercial product?

It is, but from what I remember, you need a VERY small amount of it.

I'm pretty sure there is a problem applying it topically, plus you'd need some very long term trials to demonstrate its safety considering what it does. My guy feeling is that they found it was a no go so have basically gone with minoxidil, the fact that the only studies they quote is the indian one points in that direction.

Dr. Cotsarelis has been studying FGF-9 since at least 2008:

https://www.google.ca/patents/EP2361119A1

Whether or not it's in the Follica treatment is a total mystery, they've been completely silent about almost everything.

That is probably a premptive patent based on his work mice, whether that work translate to humans is another thing completely. If follica or another else was working on using FGF9 for hair on real humans I would expect there to me atleast some evidence of trials considering the cancer causing potential of it.

Heres something I just found with a quick google:

https://www.nature.com/scibx/journal/v6/n24/full/scibx.2013.590.html

“Topical FGF9 would be catabolized readily in the skin,” noted Hantash. “Thus, delivering adequate sustained levels is not a simple task even if FGF9 maintains the same results in humans.”

I'd wager FGF9 is a no go, plus the quote from puretech I posted earlier pretty much says that just TCP is used to generate the new follicles. I could be wrong but I'm not counting on it.

Why is nobody talking about the results on the patent... It's not clear what these results are. Someone who understands it better, please give us further information about the results on this patent.

If only this would work for scars/pitting/cobblestoning then I'd be pretty happy. Grow follicles through wounding and then somehow regenerate the skin back to normal.

Costarelis did mention that but idk if he was directly relating it to the device they plan to use.
