Yes well obviously they'd not have a clue in how to deal with it, so I didn't imply their advice would be any good either. Of course the most appropriate advice would be from someone who maybe had different experiences of being targeted, but found ways out of it, which it sounds like Bucky did (it just didn't initially sound like that).

It doesn't necessarily mean you didn't handle it well in some ways, but ultimately you changed something malleable that you could control, and a lot of the time kids are bullied for things that are outside of their control. Being ugly, poor, acne, ginger, very premature balding (rare but yes, that's a f*****g tough one at age 16 or so) so if you continued getting bullied until you simply lost weight, you really didn't "win" in terms of a psychological battle, they would have continued had you not simply lost weight.

sh*t man, i can't even imagine what it feels like as i never experienced it neither give some advices, but i remember some kids during middle school who endured it and i felt pity for them (in a good way), they made it through afterwards by aging but this was no victory, their middle school period was just a constant shitshow every f*****g day, and at this age, bullies are usually those who hit puberty sooner, so you can't even beat the crap out of them

You are right that completely ignoring bullies isn't the answer, but I disagree with your advice about getting confrontational. Of course this also feeds them. Better to up your appearance and come up with non-confrontational ways to take away their power, like one I suggested earlier in the thread. It worked for me and it's supported by research.

This is what I was thinking when reading the previous advice, here's what I think about the psychology of why people/kids bully.

It's to feel power over someone else and assert dominance for others to see. In my observance (I've never been bullied) the real cruel, devoted bullies, have serious issues themselves that make them feel inferior in some way. It's not often the rich perfect life Chad, while that kinda guy may partake in bullying as a side-hobby and out of being casually bored if the situation presents itself, it's normally the fringe characters to Chad, who grew up in poor households, abusive parents or a struggling single parents, or they are inferior because of a lack of intelligence, that sort of scenario.

So what they want to do is constantly test the waters of what they can get away with doing, because there's very little else for them to focus on, they're progression in life is a target that they make feel worse and worse. Of course this is an awful attitude but while it may appear on the outside that the bully's main goal is to make another person feel as bad as possible, their real concern is feeling as good as possible by getting away with unjust acts that you shouldn't be allowed to get away with, that gives them satisfaction. They will push themselves and their target a little bit more each day, it might start with a simple shove, and 6 months later they're completely humiliating the other person, actual beatings, covering them in food, I dunno, whatever you can imagine, the more humiliating the more rewarding. It's a power trip and a release for those who don't know how else to feel complete.

There is also the side-reason of the fact they just find it funny to make fun of someone with negative aspects to them, it's easy, and funny. This is why Chad will sometimes get involved, but for a real bully this isn't the main reason.

Sorry so anyway- what you wrote is completely true because a real nasty bully, a real stickler, is pursuing that progression and pursuing ways of breaking a person down further and further, day by day.

Ignoring them makes the bully go "well... throwing their books all over the floor didn't do anything, so what's it going to take tomorrow" and it will get worse. Guaranteed. Their focus and aim will be new ways of pushing the boundaries of how to torture you without repercussion for them, and they'll find a way.

As for my advice? In this situation for stanx, as awful as it is and I am not denying the pain of it, but I think this isn't really a case of continual bullying and advice doesn't really help with this idiot girl who acted dumb, toyed with him and probably had no idea how much of a b**ch she was being (not to excuse her actions).

I forgot to reply to Mac's post but yes this was significant to me too, we had a post recently where a guy talked about not being invited out by girls, and someone suggested it's because one of them likes him (which to be honest my gut reaction was like "LOL NO!") but I turned out to be wrong, one of them had actually been interested in him previously (and he could've f*****g mentioned that, vital info).

Anyway I've been there myself where girls literally don't know how to let it be known they like you. In fact if they think you're a bit cocky or have other options, but they still like you, they'll even give this impression they'd NEVER be interested in you, when secretly they wank about it.

Well with this stanx situation I suppose it's a possibility but we'll see what he says about that. The way friends were laughing and stuff it does sound plausible- however, that's picturing a fairly good looking kid in the middle of it, if he's actually a 3/10 or something and she's a cute young girl, I think we can rule that theory out...
