In a singular case it's not bad in my opinion, either way. It's when it starts happening more widespread and disproportionately in one direction that it starts to become an issue. If all the hot girls go with all the ugly guys, and all the hot guys go with all the ugly girls, no one misses out. If all the ugly girls go with all the hot guys, and all the hot girls go with all the hot guys, it becomes an issue.
