I think it genuinely comes down to income.Yes but when it comes to having kids I think the ideal situation, for me, is that she stays at home and looks after the home/kids. I don't like the idea of having both of us work whilst the kids are raised in some daycare place. Intelligence is definitely a plus, but highly career orientated is not if kids are on the cards.
On the other hand I think most kids in western society need more of a male upbringing. To many kids these days, including myself, grow up in protected little shells until they are older and figure the internet or talk to their brother and suddenly are "redpilled". They should be taught the harshness of the world from a young age.
Kids can deal with a lot more than adults give them credit for. At some stage a kid learns the they, and everyone they know, are someday going to die. Guess what? They are sad for maybe an hour and then they go back to playing with their toys. Imagine you weren't told this until you were 20. You'd have a mental breakdown.
Tell your kids the harsh truth folks, otherwise they will respect who/ever or where/ever they learn it from more than you.
In the UK you would really need to earn way over £60,000 per year to be the sole breadwinner (something most people cannot afford). So the only solution is be poor or have your wife earn something as well.
Even though I am a professional I only earn around £25,000 per year and would also need my partner to earn the same or more to be able to afford a mortgage and holidays etc.
