Yes but when it comes to having kids I think the ideal situation, for me, is that she stays at home and looks after the home/kids. I don't like the idea of having both of us work whilst the kids are raised in some daycare place. Intelligence is definitely a plus, but highly career orientated is not if kids are on the cards.

On the other hand I think most kids in western society need more of a male upbringing. To many kids these days, including myself, grow up in protected little shells until they are older and figure the internet or talk to their brother and suddenly are "redpilled". They should be taught the harshness of the world from a young age.

Kids can deal with a lot more than adults give them credit for. At some stage a kid learns the they, and everyone they know, are someday going to die. Guess what? They are sad for maybe an hour and then they go back to playing with their toys. Imagine you weren't told this until you were 20. You'd have a mental breakdown.

Tell your kids the harsh truth folks, otherwise they will respect who/ever or where/ever they learn it from more than you.
I think it genuinely comes down to income.

In the UK you would really need to earn way over £60,000 per year to be the sole breadwinner (something most people cannot afford). So the only solution is be poor or have your wife earn something as well.

Even though I am a professional I only earn around £25,000 per year and would also need my partner to earn the same or more to be able to afford a mortgage and holidays etc.

True. So really when men want a "50s housewive" what they want is the income to allow them to live like families did in that time period.

Sad that we've gone backwards isn't it? I mean my mam never worked, she raised us, we went on holidays etc. And my dad was engineer but not some career freak and wasn't making top dollar. Things should be getting better not worse.

The reason the government reports "household income" is that "individual income" has declined in the past several decades, even though the government underestimates the rate of inflation.

This is dependent on many factor, but you cannot dismiss advantages of the modern age:

-your gadgets that you probably own
-better housing
-better healthcare (higher chances of cancer survival etc)
-access to information (via internet)
-cheaper travel (tourism has doubled in the past ten years)
-eating out (more people eat out than ever before)

Well there is also a part or sub sect of BDSm that want traditional 1950s households..

I mean it's a fetish...(nothing wrong with fetishes but people should 'know' this about themselves so they can actually go and find it)

Depends on the context.

If I see a 22 year-old 5'11 leggy blonde-haired white chick -- I won't be trying.

I see them sometimes, they might be in the same public space as me, like the gym or a nice restaurant. That's when I get closest to them, which is also exactly when I'm reminded how far away from them I really am.

I think we have different thought process on this one. When I approach a women, the only question that I ask myself is if I find her attractive. Also, there is a variation in women's tastes. A women may be within my league just because she may prefer men that look like me. Although a certain look threshold would have to be crossed for such variations to matter. But I have seen SEVERAL times in my life men missing opportunities to date women simply because they thought the women were out of their league.

Gadgets mean f*** all for genuine happiness, seriously.

Housing? What do you mean? Living space has gotten smaller I believe.

Healthcare is the biggest one alright. This and agriculture will continually improve indefinitely presuming civilization doesn't collapse. Always feel good about this.

Internet is the best thing ever, personally I love it and it has shaped my life so much that I honestly can't imagine what my life would be like without it, better or worse.

Yes I am planning a big trip to south america, love travelling. My parents also traveled around Europe and went to the US to work for summers. And Ireland was poor as ditch-water back then so not thoroughly convinced this had changed that much.

Eating out shouldn't be the aim, eating good food should be. My parents ate potatoes everyday, so yeah think that has improved for me at least. In US it's possibly gotten worse since 50s though.

Overall quality of life on average throughout the world has definitely gone up, but the average US family in the 50s likely had a better life than the average family in the US today. Or at least that would be my guess. Probably we are only fed a romanticized view of the past.

I disagree with this. I am a terrible cook and not good at cleaning by dint of my upbringing. I just hire people to do it for me.
Are you on a high income?

Maybe the not cooking is indicative of your indian heritage

i dont get this...cooking is so easy--grill some chicken, steam some veggies, nuke a potato. Done.

I mean what kind of meals do these guys want that they need a personal chef of a wife? lol

It's a big part but also I am naturally bad at cooking. I never had to cook and clean growing up. Although my brother and cousins who grew up in similar environment as me learned cooking really fast. But I am still a terrible cook. So I just hire people to cook for me.

It can go into the 'sexually satisfied', no way I'm able to get it up if my girlfriend becomes a landwhale (aaand we're back on topic).
Well, I'd be surprised if a women could get wet once you pork up, Freddo.
By the time you're 30 you will balloon out, I'm sure.
It's coming for ya Freddo.

It does seem to affect many women a lot more than that. They get serious PTSD from it.

Might be an evolutionary adaptation.

Don't know. If I were in prison, I would be raped.

Me personally, I would rather be dead than be somebody's prison b**ch.

Prison has to be like Hell. Unless its a country club prison where they send stock brokers.

I think it's gotta be worse than death.

I would pick death, if it were that and more than a couple years in prison.

I would.
