My Zix Experience - How B6 And Zinc Have Saved My Hair

Well Ive been deliberating for 2 maybe 3 years now (my minoxidil is long since expired), however I think I'll start minoxidil once daily starting tonight. Ive had relative decent success with it in the past (15 years ago), but that was alone or in conjunction with finasteride.

I felt it was of no use without an anti dht. Since zix (15 years), my loss has been insanely slow, but my temples are higher than I wish to tolerate. Im in my 40's and have my life in order. Point is, do I really need it? No. I guess that's why I've been holding off , not to mention the hassle of committing to adding an extra step in my day forevermore, the greasiness and this whole collagen side effect that some report.

I just wish I could improve the density and maybe regain half an inch on my hair line. Anyhow, hope this works out.

What collagen side effects?

I decided to try zix. I started 4 days ago and I'm already experiencing side effects - light headed, feeling very tired and sleepy. Those sides kick in around an hour after application. In my case it definitely is causing systemic side effects.Today decided to apply only .5ml and around an hour after application feel very tired and light headed. Tomorrow I will decrease dosage to .25ml or less.
My Zix is 750mgs or Zinc, 150 mgs of b6 p5p, 45mls distilled water, 12mls 70% ethyl alcohol, 20mgs azelaic acid.
1ml application is just a small fraction of 750mgs of Zinc but when this gets to bloodstream over time it may cause very serious health problems.

My only concern is that we wouldn’t be able to use Zix twice. I wish there was a way to use 1x minoxidil with 2x zix.

I think I may have mentioned this before, however it's been about a decade Ive been applying 1x daily - I use 2-4 mls per application. 2x daily was too much hassle, maybe it would have been more effective though....

Anyhow first application went on tonight. Thankfully, it wasnt as greasy as I feared.

Add weekly dermarolling if you want better regrowth if your gonna start minoxidil.

what size dermaroller do you suggest? I cant say im keen to get a long needled one. Have you dermarolled? What are your results?

Drop the Azelaic acid - you dont need it. I think my experience with Azelaic was similar. Honestly get rid of it, it's bad news.

I dont think Azelaic acid causing it. I used to use Azelaic acid on its own and i didnt have any sides. Did you have sides when you added Azelaic acidto your zix?
As far as I know, the only thing that could cause those sides is Zinc as overdose is affecting iron level in your body with cause feeling tired.

Why do you assume azelaic acid is not efficacious? The study showed that it was the combo that produced the significant anti androgenic effect.

I just made an old formula zix but I added 1ml of 95% ethyl Alcohol.
In my case it’s possible ethyl alcohol may be a reason why I get sides.
Back in 2012 when I started using minoxidil I also had side effects - extreme dizziness and migraine. I couldn’t walk in a straight line. I decided to decrease the dosage to .5ml a day and sides went away. When I use .75ml of minoxidil at night before going to sleep in the morning I usually wake up with a headache that last almost entire day. Minoxidil usually lower blood pressure which may result in headache and dizziness but also when ethyl alcohol get to the bloodstream it usually cause same side effect. And minoxidil I’m using contains ethyl alcohol.
I noticed that Dermarolling with 1.5mm also make me slightly dizzy but it lasts only 30 seconds when I’m Dermarolling - usually at the end.

it may be effective especially when combined with minoxidil. Dr. Lee back in the day was a huge fan of azelaic acid. He used to add it to his liquid minoxidil formula. People used to report better regrow when minoxidil was combined with azelaic acid.

I started recently but I’d do 1mm once a week or every other week. Also, you can do .25mm daily for extra absorption

One of the people here one of the best results with zix and xandrox. Azelaic acid is a great addition and I haven’t heard anyone who got sides on it.

Well it certainly enhances absorption - so I would drop it. I have read of no one having success with Azelaic acid. It's simply zinc/b6 and a dash of alcohol that appears to be the winning formula.

I survived the night after my first minoxidil application. Feel totally fine, but obviously way too early to report anything.

Im hopeful in 2-3 months, I'll have some good results. I am optimistic at such an early turnaround because zix has already paved the way, therefore this should be a good boost.

As an example - while this guy on reddit said he was on dutasteride, and only had significant gains when he added minoxidil, which came in pretty short order (3 months). https://www.reddit.com/r/tressless/comments/81u66f/recovery_of_my_hairline_a_story_about_being_on/ And his baseline was pretty awful on day 1, and not great when he started minoxidil. I really hope I can get some quick results as I am starting at a much higher baseline than even his most updated results.

Problem with minoxidil is that your hair gets "dependant" on it. So when you quit, expect to lose all your minoxidil gains.

Yes but for most people adding minoxidil one a day, in my case night is not a hassle. It literally takes me 10 seconds to put it on my scalp.

Well that goes without saying. Whatever gains you get will be gone when you stop minoxidil. I would just hate to be below baseline after stopping. Either way I would expect to only be at worst where I would have had I only used zix alone - or maybe better because my scalp has been getting more help it would otherwise have not gotten. I am hoping however that minoxidil will really kick things into high gear, in the sense that it is the small push my scalp needs to achieve some gains. I'd love to claw back the clock 5 years. With my consistent use of zix, i would be over the moon if I can get there.

Good point - 10 seconds is nothing.

Wasn't minoxidil enough to maintain for you?

I’m also using 5%minoxidil, spironolactone, nizoral shampoo and occasionaly peptides. I added Dermarolling with 1.5mm a couple of months ago - it’s hard to say if Dermarolling my scalp is doing anything, probably too early to notice anything.
I still loosing some hair but my hair loss is pretty slow. Back when I was in my early 20s I thought I would be bald by 40. I’m in my late 30s and I’m starting to think that I will keep most of my hair throughout my entire life.

I think I will drop zix. I made a new formula with only 250mg of zinc, 150mg of B2B but b6, 4oz of distilled water, and 1ml of 95% ethyl alcohol.
Today I applied around .25ml at 12pm and at 2pm when I was driving my car I started feeling very sleepy. I think this stuff is going systemic.

I used to apply this Canadian product that contained zinc suflate + vit b6, azelic acid, and some other vitamins and I never experienced any side effects.

They don’t disclosure amount of zinc and b6 but I’m questing it’s very small amount.

the thing with zix is it contain very high dosage of zinc. Even 250mg in 4oz of weather. When you apply only 1mg of that solution on your scalp and a small amount gets in the bloodstream than you will have problems. And no, taking 50mg of zinc in a pill is not the same as if 1mg or even .25mg gets to the bloodstream. When you take zinc orally it’s a completely different than when it gets directly to the bloodstream. When you take it in a form of a pill your body will digest it. The amount that is needed will get absorbed and rest will be flashed with urine.

You should try zix alone for some time and see if you still have sides.

What do you mean?
zinc and distilled water without b6?
Or just zix without other topical I’m using including minoxidil, spironolactone, and ordinary hair density serum?

Hi all,

2 and a half year update using zix.
Hairloss is stable, maintained what I have. I use Zix with LLLT (which helps with regrowth)

Very pleased, think less and less about hair loss now. I am also not worried about doing the things I enjoy, such as working out of the fear it accelerates loss, like I used to be.
