I just don't understand why

maybe it's up to the existing partners. The contracts were signed years ago. maybe he doesn't want to renegotiate everything.
I wonder if there were issues with any patents from the original preclinical publication they had done

there is lots more than what they have told us. They said they achieved 80% turnover rate in cell to HF formation but only showed figures of 1 or 2 hairs cycling in Mice

then all of a sudden they said they did safety tests in humans. Plus they have had so much success in regenerative research with teeth and salivary glands. There is a reason they haven’t received any money yet

People hate my opinion, but HM/HC won't happen ever in "near future" There are life-threatening conditions, like cancer etc, which need to be considered first, than cosmetical issues.
I believe Tsuji has said he wants to begin full on organ regeneration with teeth and hair due to the low stakes and easy of repair should things go wrong. Once it is proven to work and be safe, they could move on to more complex and important organs. So I think its not an either or but a step towards assisting in life-threatening conditions.

On another note, how hilarious is this whole financing debacle? The gods really wont let us be free of baldness with they X^D

I have to (somewhat) agree with the naysayers in this thread. VCs are generally sophisticated investors who will employ technical specialists and/or hire outside consultants to evaluate the technologies they invest in. If RIKEN had successfully developed a technology as transformative as hair cloning, it's hard for me to believe that they would be begging for money on twitter. As others have pointed out, technologies that would be MUCH less impactful (e.g., samumed, exicure, KY, etc.) have received hundreds of millions of dollars of seed funding without resorting to kickstarter.

Tissue doesn't find a partner either. I have contacted them and they say that nobody wants to invest in hair loss products because too often projects have failed in the past.

But the problem with brilliant researchers is, that they waiting for inquiries. Replicel didn't wait either, Samumed got $ 500 million. You have to sell your product yourself.
too bad j hewitt partnered with the wrong company :/

Samumed raised money based mainly on cancer treatments.

I noticed HairClone is now following them on Twitter. It would be great if they are interested in a partnership.

It's only been a few days since the paper was published. I'm sure that a lot of firms are examining Tsuji's work, and will approach them soon. They will get the money. None of these other companies got the money overnight either. Alexey Terskiskh was complaining for years about the lack of funding before he was able to secure the money to move forward with Stemson. If a year goes by and nothing happens then you guys have cause for concern, but right now you're just worrying yourselves for nothing.

I don't think it will be two years for J Hewitt until November. That's been a major disappointment, but who knows how much covid is to blame for it. How hard can it be to find a cell processing center in Japan?

Have we ever heard of a research team recieve insane levels of investment for a purely hairloss related product? Especially one that isn’t a traditional pharmaceutical? For SM we don’t know how much the other molecules in the pipeline affected that.

I personally think this was a big reason tsuji was looking for hair growth molecule and pushed a “minoxidil like” pharmaceutical for so long before seemingly letting it go

His reasonable request of 4.8mill for their task of human trials implies they have overcome most of their hurdles and are expecting smooth sailing

I don’t understand how people can be so pessimistic about this. What more do you want, Tsuji at your front door with his tools ready to give you 15,000 graphs?

I get the skepticism around hairloss cures and rightfully so, but to completely deny what is being displayed because you do not agree with the business/financial tactics is absurd. You’re a HairLossTalk.com member, not a CFO.

How many here said Tsuji failed when he stepped down? Almost everyone. Quit the speculation and just be patient, your emotions and logic will not change anything.

Been out of the loop for a while as I resumed a full focus on my life without thinking about my hair loss the past several months.

Followed this RIKEN Twitter account. They followed me back and literally retweeted some political tweet I just wrote. Kinda funny, kinda confusing. Hard to tell if this sh*t is serious/professional.

Tsuji going MAGA lol. You've gotta love the Japanese, it's a whole other world.
Well technically I wasn’t endorsing MAGA, I was criticizing people in power for failing to handle the Trump era appropriately. But you’ve really gotta wonder what’s going on here.

it's getting weird Why does Tsuji retweet a political post?
I really doubt it’s him but a intern or something in his lab who doesn’t understand English well. I just used Google translator to Japanese when messaging their account.

trialacc is right. Something is wrong here
Don't get all paranoid. The only thing that's wrong is that raising money isn't as easy in this field as some people think it is. It takes time.

If it wasn’t on their official website I wouldn’t believe it
Even it wasn't, some prankster wouldn't have known that the study was about to be published.

It's weird that they want to go straight to humans from the pre-clinical work in mice. You would assume that they would also do a pre-clinical study in NHPs (non-human primates). Maybe I'm missing something here though.

The way Tsuji is asking for money now and the fact that the twitter channel is re-twetting stuff about Trump makes this all look pretty unprofessional.
