The whole point is the question: if you were a nw6 and treatments failed.

Its for people who didn't respond to treatments and the their FUE failed (low yield)
got it, I just dont consider FUE/FUT a treatment. To me its the same type of situation as an SMP. Its a full on restoration procedure. One and done (hopefully). Treatments are things you do or take over extended periods.
But either or, whatever works for your hypothetical.
I guess shaved..... then a wig..... OF A SKULLET!

I am more than Norwood 6 now, still i think i look better now with scissor cut short hairs than i was at Norwood3 /4/5.

Norwood 4/5 looks are too disappointing but after norwood 6,such guys have such a huge life experiences that will prepare them to handle this problem.

I think its all on a case by case basis. Some guys genuinely look okay bald and balding, some men don't mind, and some men look absolutely terrible with their hair.

I'm ticking mist of those boxes.

Depleted donor

Failed hair transplant

I get it, it's reassuring to tell yourself that you're utterly fucked. Been there.

Full-blown NW6, failed FUE with a top surgeon, another failed FUE with a top surgeon, donor depleted, who's going to tick all these boxes?

Who is currently ticking all those boxes on this forum?

Anyway, the best solution is always more hair, even if you have to use pube grafts.

Then you add temporary SMP onto the pubes.

This poll needs more options, you need to think out of the box.

I was really close to changing mine from Death to Stubble as I wouldn't actually prefer to be dead than NW6. However, what kind of message is this for our young hair troubled members?! Don't worry about death because Stubble will f*****g save you! Oh right!

Stubble won't save you from being NW6 and dead.

All. Dead.

Ok, looks like the shaved head wins for advanced balders who are no responsive to treatments!

I genuinely thought SMP would win.

Personally I chose slick bald, but that's only because that's the one that looks best - although I haven't tried a wig yet :)

That's what you say when you're aren't bald yet.

I don't think the true NW6 on this forum even sport a shaved head.

@Exodus2011 keeps his horseshoe, I'm not sure about @CaptainForehead .

It's all BS anyway, everyone likes to say: "Well if it gets too bad, I'll just shave it all off!"

No you won't. Been there, done that, got asked if I had cancer, grew my horseshoe back, and finally, got a FUE.

I would even have gotten some temporary SMP if the FUE didn't satisfied me.

Most people on here lack "true baldness" experience.
I've done both - I've gone slick bald twice in the last few years, but I tend to grow it back again. I would 100% be bald or shaved if i was a nw5 - but that's just me personally - I'm not insisting other balding men do it.

Perhaps its my culture - in the uk tons of men are slick bald and some full heads even shave it all off with a blade.

I don't know anyone under 40 with a larry david

Shaving while you have still hair is completely different from shaving as a true NW6.

Don't even think you know what it's like.

And please spare me the "but you really don't see any hair anymore!"

It's there and people see it, you have the stubble.
I maintain that some people look good bald, but that's my own personal opinion.

Like was said in another thread around three months ago: certain features are essential to pull off the bald look and if you have them you will be fine.

What norwood did you use to be?

I've only seen a picture of you with a nw2 hairline, post transplant

I was a slick NW5 with a thinning NW6 area.

Sure, I pulled off the look too, whatever that means.

But still, I hated the way I looked, I still looked sick and people were wondering if I was undergoing chemo.
Haha I felt something similar.

While I knew in a way I looked ok, I felt having no hair on my head just wasn't me. I've had hair for 30 years so its become a large part of my identity.

What I did to not feel like a chemo guy or a Nazi was that I grew a beard to compensate for the lack of head hair (I think a lot of bald men do the same).

An old but gold treatment which has stood the test of time: wig.

The situation you describe is a nightmare. Particularly as I never think of hair loss anymore. Taking away my options would really bring me back down to Earth and result in being mentally dead @Rudiger
It would be a nightmare!

I often thought: what would happen if they banned the production of finasteride?

There would be a f*** ton more bald men roaming the streets.

i buzzed it at #1 first, then had a full grown horseshoe past few years because im in full basement dweller mode. but i've been going outside more and paranoid recently about my (cute!) female neighbor and have buzzed it again, down to #6. i hate short hair so its a good compromise

Me and @kj6723 worry the same about finasteride ha. Millions of men are on it and I know a few within my own circle. I'm sure many more are secretly on it as well that I don't know about. Without finasteride I could survive with fue and still have fullish hair, won't be as good as now though.
I think the number of men on it really is quite high - and the statistics aren't clear because most men buy it from abroad without a prescription.

Every balding man I know has also tried Alpecin shampoo: and they all go through a stage of denial when they insist it works, but then you see them years later going up another norwood.

I'm kinda of jealous of you guys who respond to finasteride btw!

What happened with you on finasteride? Sides or didn't work? If it's the latter, remember you're always better with finasteride than without it. Even if you're losing hair, it's still slowing the process down considerably.

I understand your jealousy, I'd feel the same. I probably worried about my hair for 6 months, that's it. That was the year when I was Norwood 2.5/3 in my late 20s, otherwise thick hair and I was just starting my treatment. I was thinking, will finasteride work? How much donor hair do I have for transplants? Do I have an aggressive pattern? Will I lose my looks and identity prematurely? After getting my scalp analysed, everything came back good. 10k donor hair and not an aggressive pattern. finasteride was working well, feels like taking a water pill, no sides.

Instantly at this point, I knew everything was good. I knew I would be cured with full hair with no lingering disfigurement and mental distress, simply via finasteride and transplants. Makes you think of guys who lost their looks in the past era, how helpless they must have felt. It was the best decision for me due to the inner peace and happiness. I don't think of hair loss and that translates into a much frame of mind to devote to everything else. Even just sipping on a beer on a summer evening in town, just seems a million times more enjoyable and meeting other people.
Finasteride literally made no difference to my hair loss after 1.5 years of taking the drug. My hair continued to fall out at its usual slow pace (I've lost two norwoods in 10 years).

As for sides - its very hard to say as some of them may have been psychosomatic. I didn't feel as sharp mentally and I also found it easier to gain weight (but I just dieted a little better. Again, its hard to say if its the drug or if I was just imagining it. I would have persevered if the drug was working but sadly it wasn't.

Right now I'm not on any treatments. The rough plan for the future is to just wait for new treatments to come onto the market. If the hair loss gets to a point where it looks really thin before the new products come out then I will have to make a decision between shaving it off again or getting a transplant.
