Me and @kj6723 worry the same about finasteride ha. Millions of men are on it and I know a few within my own circle. I'm sure many more are secretly on it as well that I don't know about. Without finasteride I could survive with fue and still have fullish hair, won't be as good as now though.

I don't know anyone irl who's openly on it. The few people I've talked to about it have never heard of it.

Makes you think of guys who lost their looks in the past era, how helpless they must have felt.

I was doing a clinical for school recently, and some volunteer kid there, 19 year old NW1, has probably never thought about hair loss, was saying how he wishes he had lived in the 80's. Literally my first thought was, f*** no, finasteride wasn't around yet.

Bizarre to think that we are in the first generation of humans with solutions available that don't involve wigs

Finasteride literally made no difference to my hair loss after 1.5 years of taking the drug. My hair continued to fall out at its usual slow pace (I've lost two norwoods in 10 years).

As for sides - its very hard to say as some of them may have been psychosomatic. I didn't feel as sharp mentally and I also found it easier to gain weight (but I just dieted a little better. Again, its hard to say if its the drug or if I was just imagining it. I would have persevered if the drug was working but sadly it wasn't.

Right now I'm not on any treatments. The rough plan for the future is to just wait for new treatments to come onto the market. If the hair loss gets to a point where it looks really thin before the new products come out then I will have to make a decision between shaving it off again or getting a transplant.

Considered trying dutasteride?

I actually don't know much about that drug, but I thought it worked in the same way as finasteride did?

Inhibits like 90% of dht as oppose to finasteride's 60-70% from what I understand

If finasteride ever loses its efficacy for me I will be bending heaven and earth to get my hands on some dutasteride

I might actually look into that for when I move back to the city.

Are the sides the same as finasteride?

If I woke up to find I was Norwood 6 (without any warning), I would buy Nembutal from the darknet, then drink it, then slit my wrists, pour petrol over my body and set myself on fire, then with seconds to spare before my hands are engulfed in flames, blow my brains out with a pistol just to make sure the job's done. Norwood 6 is no more compatible with life than floating naked in space is.

I know I will never reach Norwood 6, because I would kill myself as soon as becoming NW4 (or maybe even before).

I live in Thailand - plenty of Norwood 6s and 7s with cute girls here - those with their arms folded as he's entering his PIN number at the ATM.

Yes. And like finasteride it has a good safety profile

If I go to NW6 I'll have literally zero inhibition. I will do whatever because I'll feel like my life has no value anyways. Come to think of it it's going to be alot like Walter White in Breaking Bad, except male pattern baldness instead of cancer.

Maybe I'll start cooking meth in order to pay for hair transplants and sh*t. If the hair transplants are a fail, I will continue cooking untill I have millions of dollars to give to my family. Then I'll get a bullet transplant to my face.

That's what you say when you're aren't bald yet.

I don't think the true NW6 on this forum even sport a shaved head.

@Exodus2011 keeps his horseshoe, I'm not sure about @CaptainForehead .

It's all BS anyway, everyone likes to say: "Well if it gets too bad, I'll just shave it all off!"

No you won't. Been there, done that, got asked if I had cancer, grew my horseshoe back, and finally, got a FUE.

I would even have gotten some temporary SMP if the FUE didn't satisfied me.

Most people on here lack "true baldness" experience.

I use a "balding clipper" which is almost like a shave. I am also super lazy which mean I only do it once in two weeks. If I'm going to an important event, I will do it before the event though. I look better clipper shaved.

So on average for two days a week I have a shaved look, then for the next 12 it's grown out horseshoe.

Just watched a bunch of balding videos on youtube and this guy confirmed that nw6 looks better shaved than the grown out horseshoe

Sure it looks better, but when you're pale and skinny, it also looks like you have cancer.

Shaved to me means using a blade by the way.

I always used a razor with no guard and you could always see the 5 o' clock shadow of my horseshoe.

Then I would shave every week.

Keeping a visible horseshoe is important because of the framing it provides.

The moment you shave with a blade, you join the bald clones army.

All a question of the look ;) If a man has a masculine face then is a shaved head absolutely not a problem.
It emphasizes the face much stronger.

This is a picture of me last year - I never felt like a bald chemo guy, but I think its because I have some muscle facial hair and tattoos:
