You must be a huge fan of body art? I could never understand why people tattoo their whole body. Maybe you can explain why? When I was growing up, tattoos were considered "tramp stamps" but when they became popular amongst Hollywood celebrities, tattoos were considered "sexy". Amazing how the trends change. In my generation, if a man wore an earring he was gay. If he colored his hair or had highlights, he was gay.
Yep, its often an age thing.
Tastes are so often a cultural thing and for older generations tattoos were seen as deviant. In 50s, 60s, 70s they were often associated with either people in the military or for people who were criminals. Over the 80s and 90s they were often looked down on for either for being for working class people or for rockers. I think it is since the early 00s that things began to evolve and it became more ordinary - where people in creative arts or/and celebrities began to explore body art. And then, over these past 10 or 15 years people have seen these people with them, thought they looked interesting, and have decided to have them themselves.
I think if you grew up in a past culture or were raised in a conservative household you will always struggle to understand or even appreciate body art. I don't think you can unlearn something such as tastes. They are shaped and cultivated in our early years and as much as we like to think we have autonomy over our tastes we really do not.
For me, probably because of my upbringing and for the people I admire, this is the best look a man can have:
But you have to remember that I am 30 - I've grown up in a culture where tattoos are okay.
I'm also working class, my father was a punk, my uncle was a travelling gypsy, these are the people I looked up to and admired - so this is why I probably think these people who covered in tattoos look great and also probably why I emulate a similar look.
