after my 3. or 4. session i can see that some hair are feeling thicker ,i also got atm some larger vellus hair on temples and like 1-2 dark hair on the temples(never mind atm,but all other hair on temple are blonde)...

Since i used on 1 temple castor oil after rolling , i would say that atm the side without castor oil looks better.Maybe castor oil anti inflammatory properties do block the wihn. But since most topicals are anti inflammatory its hard to try other topicals.

topical taurine could be a big fail, http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9729377 , looks like it decrease Nitric oxide synthase as well as pge2 production.

i ll maybe give lavender+tea oil a shot because of its estrogenic effects.Women have nearly never problems with their temples and they have high estrogen and more subcutanous fat..

I probably won't be much of an active member here, but I found the research independently and started the 1.5mm weekly regime only to find that there was already a healthy and growing group devoted to it. Well I'm just waiting for my skin numbing cream to get to work before my s/o gives me my weekly needle torture.

Welcome, and good luck man!

i have dupa, which sucks because i have to roll on the sides of my head. my hairline is barely starting to recede (dupa doesnt cause much frontal baldness, but moreso thinning all over) and i started dermarolling and noticed a few dark terminal hairs sprouting in front of my widow's peak, where hair was preciously there and lost. im checking on them everyday and took a before photo. if they grow to even a quarter of an inch i will post pics. im seeing some pictures in this thread but i was hoping there would be a bit more, rather than the few heros that did upload.

Opti, Since you brought up the estrogen issue, and given that s-equol (very soon to be released by Nature Made) not only binds to DHT but attaches to the estrogen receptor B, does anyone have research on the effects of estrogen on hair, either here or on another thread? I realize it sounds like a no brainer that estrogen would be a big plus but check out the research in the links below. It is a very complicated area of research showing estrogen actually induces catagen and retards anagen according to the studies, yet the clinical experience (topical use in Europe, pregnant women, ect) suggest it is a positive.

Any thoughts on this Squeegee, either for this or another thread ? ..........you seem to be very research oriented. S-equol is scheduled to be released by the end of the year in California and could be a great addition to DR both from the standpoint of it's neutralizing effects on DHT and thereby PDG2, and from it's positive effects on the estrogen receptor B if indeed that is a positive.

Also, Squeegee's results from his twice a week regimen would seem to back up his research that wounding initially promotes PGE2 and then later results in a rise in PDG2 as the wound heals. It sounds plausible that just as PGE2 levels are decreasing from the first roll of the week and PGD2 levels are increasing, a second wounding would counteract the rise in PDG2 from the first roll with a new wave of PGE2 from the second roll.

oh nice :O anyone uses such a thing?

edit :

@ pinotq: sorry didnt see ur post.Well i think estrogen is a mighty thing against hair loss.I alrdy saw on other forums men using estradiol creme and having not even temple issues. The problem is that most ppl will get gyno or better called "b**ch tits" . Im excited about s equol if it will be affordable.

I do, since last week. Exactly the same. First I tried the regular DR, then the regular dermapen (flat surface), and now this cheap electrical one from china. It is awesome: almost no pain (I guess because needles enter fast and straight into the skin), and you can even go to places with long hair without cutting or pulling the hair. You can also regulate the length of the needles, from 0.5 to 2mm.

One drawback would be the density of the needles, because they are just 12 for around 1 cm2, but you can pass several times on the same area to increase the density of the injures. The other drawback would be the small surface that makes slow to cover large areas. Otherwise, I would say it is simply perfect for small areas, like temples.

Hope it helps.

Any noticeable difference between the dermapen and the chinese knock-off?

12th (or about that) dermarolling user reporting in again. Little by little some more small hairs appearing in my hairline. It's a veeeery sloooow process but tiny results keep me going. I'd like to add the acid part as squeegee but still not have the balls to combine both.

A few years ago I tried 15% and it did work much better but also gave me severe heart palpitations, shortness of breath, etc and I was totally fit, riding my bike 150 miles a day at the time. I was using a crap-ton of the 15% though so your results may vary.
