Re: Tried them all! finasteride, foam, Tricomin, prox, nizoral, spironolactone

Hey your pics look great! Are you sure you were really thinning before?:)

-Are you able to think back and maybe provide some kind of timeline as to when you started each product and what the result was? I ask this as maybe that would give you (us) a better idea of what provided the most benefit? I would guess its the minoxidil?...yes, I know I am asking alot...sorry.

-Where you applying the minoxidil and spironolactone?

Looks great!! Im envious!

As a timeline, I can give it a shot, but the timing will be a little rough. I think it will be close enough to get an idea.

2007-2009: propecia 1mg, foam 2x daily to frontal, nizoral 3x a week
Grew most of my hair back with this, but libido was almost useless. Serious mental issues - anxiety, depression, mood swings, insomnia, hormone / endocrine issues. The hardest couple years of my life. 20+ doctors and multiple diagnoses / counter acting medications which were all a waste of time.

summer 2009 - finpecia 0.5mg daily, foam 2x daily to frontal, nizoral 3x a week
Got a slight improvement in libido, but still had other problems. Hair maintaining at this point. In denial about libido due to hair improvement.

Fall 2009 - Early 2010 - Dropped finasteride, switched to kirkland 5% minoxidil (to save $), nizoral 3x a week, spironolactone s5 cream to temples
Small shed, decided to add proxiphen a couple months in to step it up a notch. Libido came back to how it was when I was 18. All other health issues started to disappear like they never happened.

Spring / Summer 2010 - Decided prox was too expensive and not doing anything additional so I dropped it. Added tricomin. Life was back to the way it was before any hair loss. I cannot express how happy I was when I realized I was back to normal (hair AND mental / health state)

Late 2010 - Current regimen: kirkland 5% minoxidil to frontal once daily (morning), nizoral 3x a week, spironolactone s5 cream to frontal before bed daily, tricomin spray after night-time shower daily
Currently maintaining and I am happy. I can't believe I was almost willing to accept my shrunken penis to have nice hair.

how much of your success do you contribute to the tricomin?
I have almost the same regime as you- nizoral, minoxidil, and s5- everything except tricomin. Do you think i should add it?

Also im just curious when and how often you apply each topical....im finding it to be a real pain sometimes to make sure i apply them both everyday

I have a feeling I knew how you felt in the summer when sides abated and you still managed to keep your hair ha ha ha!

Isn't it incredible that sides so real like that are experienced by some and that when they are gone it very quickly feels like a distant nightmare. I persevered for nearly 7 years to keep my hair, unbelievable.

Only literally this week, some 8 months down the line from quitting duts am I getting my old self back, harder hardons and actual white sperm, brilliant, and most importantly of all anxiety is almost gone down to normal levels. It's only been a week i've felt this way but my gut tells me im on the mend. Anyway excuse all that info, just really understood where you were coming from in that last post.

Great to see a happy ending :)

Great hair btw

Thanks! And I forgot about the speech problems I had! I couldn't think and I couldn't even put together a sentence! I would say it took a total of over 6 months to fully recover. I would think I was all better, then more time would go by, and I would get even better. Feels great. I can tell I am just headed in the right direction now.

With the added confidence that I now have, I feel better than when I was 18 :)

not much...it just makes the hair feel nice and smooth. its so cheap and lasts so long...why not?

I apply minoxidil in the morning after I wet my hair, and apply spironolactone right before bed. Not inconvenient for me at all.

I honestly feel smarter, more balanced, a better speaker and writer since my hormones have started levelling out. It's quite unbelievable. I wouldn't believe it if I had not experienced it.

It's good that people like yourself that have had success and perspective give an example to the masses of panicking young men (i was one of them) who's lives could literally be destroyed if they don't get info on what or why they are feeling the way they are.

I read that there is no such thing as happiness or despair, just the comparison between the two! On that note let's hope we both go and have a great time of it!

peace

Thats awesome. I thought I was one of few. Feels good talking to somebody else that can relate. Don't you feel like you can do anything based on what you got through? I couldn't even sit through a meeting at work, now I'd be confident presenting to the president.

Different camera angle, different light, different hair length. really no comparison there. look at page 8.

...what exactly is your reason to chime in here?

I think your hair looks terrible, but that's not going to help, is it?

Interesting. When was finasteride dropped? Was it Fall '09 or early'10? I am asking this because it is possible that you haven't been off finasteride long enough to experience the massive shed that is yet to come.

You also mentioned that spironolactone / minoxidil was only applied to the front. By the looks of your pics, you seem to be thin on top as well - so how will you possible maintain by only applying to the front?

I just checked and I stopped taking finasteride on Oct 5 2009. I have nizoral and tricomin for the whole head, and spironolactone and minoxidil for the front where its more agressive. I seem to be maintaining on top just with nizoral and tricomin.

that speaks very well for those 2 products indeed. I always felt nizoral was nonsense but from the anti fungal cream angle I may try it now as well as tricomin.

re the latter you say the tricomin generally works for instant cosmetic improvement aswell as a male pattern baldness fighitng tool if I remember correctly yes?

A lot of people say that nizoral and copper peptides are nonsense, but I disagree. Both definitely improve the overall health of all the hair, and older studies show both nizoral and tricomin (separately) being just as effective as 2% minoxidil. All have totally different modes of action, so using all 3 seems pretty smart. Plus they're all cheap and easy to use. On a side note I was considering switching to folligen for copper, because its cheaper and apparently more concentrated.

A lot of people say to me "you dont have an anti androgen for the top of your head" but copper peptides stimulate and inhibits 5-alpha red, and nizoral is mild but has anti sebum, anti inflammation, and anti DHT effects.

You mention switching to a different brand of Cop peptides. My motto is if it isn't broke, don't fix it!

Re: Tried them all! finasteride, foam, Tricomin, prox, nizoral, spironolactone

Hi Inland, just read the whole thread. Congrats on your continued success. Your hair looks great on your current regimen. J.Theodore is talking rubbish.

Similar to you, I recently dropped finasteride due to sides and after reading your story I'm going to add spironolactone and tricomin. Regarding the 6th month period it took to get over the finasteride sides, were you taking any medication/supplements to deal with the sides or did u just let your body fix your hormone levels by itself.

Thanks
