When you witness a savior's resurrection and are commanded to offer blood tithes you know your faith is rewarded

If I'm bleeding with 0.5mm is there any reason to go deeper?

That don't seem right but then again I don't seem to get blood at 1.5 just mega pain :\

Just done 5th session and applied minoxidil straight after. ZERO results so far, I actually plan to get a transplant in April so should I just stop doing it now so the transplant works? Dont want to ruin the skin on my scalp
I don't think rolling ruins the skin for a transplant. In fact, it may be beneficial, as it creates a healthier environment for the hair. However, you should stop weeks prior the transplant for obvious reasons.
Still, I urge you to talk with a transplant surgeon to confirm this.

That depends. There are several ways to go about this.
What you can do at that depth are daily sessions to increase Minoxidil absorption.
What most people are doing here is following two studies regarding the effects of wounding the scalp, and this is done with anything between 1.5-2 mm every 7-15 days (it is recommended that the longer the needle, the longer the space between sessions). At this depth you're triggering growth factors.
You can see both studies here:
Indian study (2013):

Chinese study (2017):

nice study
don't you think though that group 3 was more about pharmacokinetics rather than wound healing benefits? electric needles on 2.5mm. This should be too good.
Yeah, I do agree with you. I'm following it, 2 mm every 2 weeks and no Minoxidil. So like group 2.

Only one thing, sorry if it's already been discussed. @2young2retire didn't use finasteride at the time, if I recall correctly. Have you reduced dht in other ways in the meantime? Or is it, at least for his case, sure that you can maintain without finasteride/dutasteride by regrowing new hairs each time? Sorry, I'm not a native speaker. Thanks for what you're doing guys.

The Chinese study is a good one. Its method is well described and quite rigorous. Also with detail statistics and pics. If you pay attention to the stat, you would notice that in minoxidil group, the regrowth mostly came from converting vellus hair into non vellus hair (vellus hair count actually decreased post treatment), while in needling group it produced a bunch of vellus hair. Minoxidil + needling group worked on both, resulting in significant increase of overall hair count. Worth a read.

I'm new here. Just ordered the derminator 2 about a week ago after reading this thread.
I'm 52 and started thinning at the crown about 5 years ago. Noticed diffuse thinning in the front a few months ago after losing about 20 lbs through diet and exercise over the last year. I have always had thick hair up front and I kinda freaked and realized that sh*t is getting real.
Jumped on minoxidil for the first time about 6 weeks ago and purchased a 5 mm dermaroller a couple weeks back from a local store.
Instead of rolling with it, I stamp it in. I do get blood dots doing that up front.
Waiting for my derminator to arrive.
Here's may hair soaking wet

@2young2retire glad you’ve mentioned the blood, I’m definitely seeing blood on my crown but not my temples which I think must have thinned earlier. More buildup to break through.

My question. Recently somebody here said that wounding should theoretically work for everybody - unlike a drug it’s not a chemical reaction or response which is different per body.

Whereas we all heal the same way. do you think that person was right? This should work for all people over time?

Edit: oh and welcome back and thanks for sharing :)

5 sessions is too soon...

for what it’s worth I’ve had a transplant and wish i hadn’t... no matter how many transplants you get it will bite you in the *** if you can’t maintain the hair you have with finasteride.

And sadly for me I couldn’t and my crown is catching up.

That said I had a transplant taking a bet that at some point in the future sciebce will give me another option.

This might be it. Six / seven years on!!!!

So just remember you’re not even needling if you don’t get an even wounding spread and you don’t needle at 1.5mm minimum.

Oh and google balding blog and check out failed FUE procedures. Don’t go anywhere near Turkey!!!

How do we know the non-angled, precise nature of the wounds inflicted by a dermapen are effective for hairloss compared to the wounding at an angle inflitected by the typical dermaroller? has anyone seen regrowth with a dermapen to confirm?

Also, "drops" is still blood. How do you clean your head then? I still have enough hair to not see if there are remainders of blood in my scalp, it doesn't feel too higienic knowing there may be unwashed blood drops in your head.

What specific type of alcohol to clean the needles and how often should you buy new ones? how expensive are the derminator replacement needles? hopefully they last because the thing is quite expensive.

Finally, what mm of needles and how often?

The best results i've seen is with 1,5mm almost daily or daily I think, by the user @Somebody which I consider insanity since 1,5mm is too much for daily usage, but he says he doesn't go all in, so wouldn't it be better to use a shorter needle? why risk it.

The thing with dermarolling or dermapening that makes me paranoid is increased inflamation. Our scalps are inflammed by default due androgenetic alopecia, so we definitely do no want increased inflamed scalp, this worries me, however there's also benefits, so I don't know what to do about it. I have the typical male pattern baldness itch and I don't want to make it worse. I may need to hop on dutasteride to try nuke my DHT and see if the itch goes away, this sucks. I guess I will be using a lot of v**** soon.
The itch is a bastard, you know it’s shedding occurring.

Lmao, how the f*** are you gonna get great results after one f*****g month. This guy is unbelievable.

So do you think its better to leave it 10 days to 2 weeks between sessions when doing 2mm with a Pen?

My hair is getting better slowly after doing it weekly....but I'm wondering from that chart if 2 weeks seems more optimal?
hey man do you microneedle in 3 directions or just up and down and if so how many times thanks

do not forget this.
View attachment 107538

do not go in the sun for 7 days after the roll
do the procedure only in winter months.
avoid UV wavelengths after the rolling
massage the skin after the roll, let the tiny holes bleed this tiny amount of blood by mechanical stress.

i am not a doctor. please consult with your doctor before doing anything.
i am not selling anything
i am just spending my time here talking funny stuff.(for fun)
Thanks. I've been looking for that image for a while now.

Why would 2young2retire be back if his results were any good?

I can’t talk for him but if I had such success I’d not leave the forums but at least hang around every now and then to help people out and tell my story. I feel good helping others. Also you never know if you’ll end up balding again, after all you still need to do whatever thing regularly so you’re not cured.
